Hemaprova Gogoi succumbed to non-COVID death with COVID-19 positivity

LAKHIMPUR: Hemaprova Gogoi, who breathed her last at North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital on Thursday evening, succumbed to non-COVID death with COVID-19 positivity. It was confirmed by Lakhimpur district administration in a press release sent to media. Notably, after her death, news was published in some newspapers that the woman died of COVID-19.

In this regard, DIPRO-in charge of Lakhimpur, Debashish Goswami informed that Hemaprova Gogoi, wife of Hemodhar Gogoi (67), a resident of Ward No.10, Milan Nagar, Lakhimpur under North Lakhimpur Revenue Circle, who expired on July 23, was suffering from cardio vascular disease and diabetes.

"She was admitted at NLCH on the day around 4.00 pm in a very critical condition and later at around 5.20 pm she died of Acute Myocardial Infarction complicated with Cardio Vascular Disease and Diabetes. After death, she was tested for COVID-19 using Rapid Antigen Detection Test and was subsequently found positive for COVID-19. Thus, it is a non-COVID death with COVID-19 positivity," he stated in the press release.

After her death, the district administration, vide order No.LDC.61/MISC/2018/Pt-III/65 dated 23-07-2020 has declared and designated Ward No.10, Milan Nagar as containment zone and an area of 500 metres as buffer zone to seal the geographical area in order to arrest the spread of COVID-19 and to break the very chain of transmission of the pandemic.

On the other hand, a total of 41 COVID-19 patients were detected in Lakhimpur on Friday. Of them, 14 patients have got infected with coronavirus through their contact with deceased Hemaprova Gogoi. They have been detected positive through Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). They have been identified as Binod Gogoi (30), Ruby Gogoi (33), Mridusmita Gogoi (11), Kalpana Gogoi (26), Nomal Saikia (64), Kalpana Saikia (52), Joyashree Gogoi (9), Lucky Gogoi (25), Uttam Devnath (46), Maina Devnath (32), Bapon Devnath (22), Prashanta Gogoi (38), Gobinda Das (45) and Jonali Das (45). The former four persons are family members of Hemaprova Gogoi while others are neighbours and tenants in her house.

In addition, three more persons were detected COVID-19 positive through RAT at 13 Battalion camp of Lilabari. They have been identified as Pramen Saikia (48), Bohagi Saikia (40) and Rameswar Boro (52). Notably, a person in the 13 Battalion camp of Lilabari was detected positive for coronavirus on Thursday. In addition to them, 24 more people were detected positive for COVID-19 in the district on the day.
