Hemp Crop (Cannabis sativa) fields Destroyed in Jamugurihat

JAMUGURIHAT: Sonitpur Superintendent of Police Dhananjay Parshuram Dhanawat, in association with Jamuguri and Sootea PS, destroyed hectares of hemp (Cannabis sativa) crop-fields in the char area of Gosain Chapori under Sootea PS near here on Tuesday.

A team of Sonitpur police, along with Jamuguri and Sootea police, destroyed hectares of hemp crops of Gosain Chapori to the south-east part of Jamugurihat with the help of excavators and tractors.

On the basis of the statement of one Dharmakanta Nayak who was apprehended by Jamuguri police in connection with ganja supply recently, the Sonitpur police conducted the operation on Tuesday. Mantush Chakrabarti, Circle Officer of Naduar Revenue Circle, Pranjal Nath and Kalpajyoti Sarma, officers-in-charge of Jamuguri and Sootea PS respectively, also took part in the operation.
