Hills Area Department Minister Jogen Mohan visits Assam-Meghalaya border area

After taking over as Hills Area Department (HAD) Minister, Jogen Mohan visited West Karbi Anglong district on Tuesday and inspected the disputed Assam- Meghalaya border.

DONGKAMUKAM: After taking over as Hills Area Department (HAD) Minister, Jogen Mohan visited West Karbi Anglong district on Tuesday and inspected the disputed Assam- Meghalaya border.

He inspected the area of the border pillars erected by the Survey of India but the pillars are nowhere to be seen now as they have been allegedly uprooted by miscreants. The minister assured to take up the matter with Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma in the upcoming cabinet meeting so that a talk regarding the border issue could be arranged between Assam and Meghalaya counterparts to find a permanent solution to the problem. "The border pillars will be re-erected soon," the minister assured. "The disturbances created by the people of Meghalaya for setting up a university approved by the Assam Government will also will be apprised to the Chief Minister," he added.
