KOKRAJHAR: Reacting to the alleged anti-Bodo and anti-tribal remarks of Assam BJP President and MP Dilip Saikia and Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma in a series of public meetings, deeply hurting the sentiments of the tribal communities, BPF MLA Rabiram Narzary questioned the people of Dotma, especially the Bodos, how they could work with the BJP when their agenda was completely against the tribal people.
In a public meeting under Dotma constituency on Wednesday, MLA Narzary said that it was unfortunate that some people from Dotma Block areas were working with the BJP despite knowing that the BJP was working to polarize the votes of tribal and non-tribal in BTR area by openly promising to end tribal land laws and 6th schedule status of BTC if they came to power. He said, “How can the people of Dotma, the birth place of Bodofa UN Brahma, work with the BJP whose agendas are destructive for the tribal people?”
Narzary said that Bodofa started the Bodoland Movement to bail out the backward tribal people from systematic suppression and domination, as a result of which the autonomous council was given to Bodos for self-rule to protect and develop all backward communities but the BJP not even spearheading the small autonomous council indicated the intent of the BJP. He said that Bodofa did not compromise on the suppressive policies of the ruling clique.
Meanwhile, retired IAS Officer, Kolen Mashahary of Kolkata, said the BJP and its ideological mentor, RSS, had all along been insensitive, indifferent and contemptuous to the indigenous tribal people. He cautioned that the Bodo and other indigenous tribal leaders of regional political parties ought to bear in mind that in near future all of them would be gobbled up by the BJP and its ideological mentor, RSS if they were not alert of BJP’s destructive theory.
