Huge cache of weapons, explosives recovered in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: Acting on a tip-off on presence of illegal arms and ammunition, the Kokrajhar Police on Sunday launched operations in two places in the jungle area of Saraibil under Gossaigaon sub-division. The recovery of sophisticated weapons was made just a day ahead of Governor's scheduled programmes at Jharbari, Sanfang Forest Range and Srirampur in Gossaigaon sub-division on Monday.

The SP, Kokrajhar R. Roushan told mediapersons that the Kokrajhar Police carried out operation at Katlibil jungle area under Saraibil BOP, Gossaigaon PS and Belguri jungle area under Serfanguri PS on Sunday afternoon. He said the police team recovered huge consignment of arms and ammunitions that include one MMG, five AK 56 rifles, four magazines, 244 rounds of live ammunition, one INSAS rifle, one magazine with 23 rounds of ammunition, three 9 mm pistols, and 36 hand grenades.
