Huge quantity of narcotic substances seized by Dholai police

SILCHAR: Dholai police seized narcotic substances from the residence of a peddler at Tikri village in Lailapur area near Mizoram on Tuesday. Police led by Nousang Shyam, the OC of Lailapur outpost, raided the house of one Azharuddin and seized 295 plastic boxes containing brown sugar weighing 153.50 gram. Azhar has been arrested. He will be produced in the court on Wednesday.

In a separate incident, Churaibari police recovered huge quantity of ganja from a truck coming from Tripura. Niranjan Das, in-charge of Churaibari outpost, said that on Monday night during routine checking, they confiscated 4,728 kg of cannabis from a truck which was coming from Tripura. The market value of the narcotic substance will be not less than Rs. 4.70 crore, a police source confirmed.
