RANGIA: Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Rangia, under the guidance of HK Gupta, Commandant, 24th Battalion Sashastra Seema Bal Rangia (Assam), conducted a joint operation at the Indo-Bhutan border in collaboration with SSB border outposts of Guabari and Bimlanagar and the Excise Department, Tamulpur, on Monday.
During this operation, 300.12 litres of illegal Bhutanese liquor were seized in the Siddhnathpur village in Tamulpur district, located inside the Indian border, 14 km from border pillar number 249. After the operation, the said illegal Bhutanese liquor was handed over to the Excise Department, Tamulpur.
The operation was conducted on the basis of secret information in the presence of Sub Inspector (General) Birendra Singh and TH Sarat Singh of border outposts of Guabari and Bimalnagar of the 24th Battalion, and AIE Singa, EC Jyotish Das, Ajay Topo, Bridu Boro, Pintu Deka, Bhaskar Das, Rajib Tiron, and others from the Excise Department, Tamulpur.
The 24th Battalion, Sashastra Seema Bal, Rangia, is continuously running such campaigns to discharge its duty in the security of the Indo-Bhutan border and with the cooperation of local citizens. It regularly meets with them and encourages them to inform the nearest SSB border outpost or battalion headquarters if they see any kind of criminal activity or illegal smuggling happening in the border area.
