
TINSUKIA: The Indian Army’s Spear Corps marked the International Day of Women and Girls in Science by hosting awareness programs in schools across Tinsukia district, Assam.
The events took place at St. Patrick’s High School, Padum Pathar Phillobari, and Gandhi Vidya Mandir High School, Margherita, with the goal of inspiring students and promoting gender equality in the scientific fields.
The sessions included discussions on the latest technological advancements, scientific opportunities, and innovative research shaping the future. Students engaged with experts, sparking curiosity and encouraging them to explore careers in science and technology.
Over 200 students and teachers participated in the event, which highlighted the Army's dedication to empowering youth and supporting equal opportunities for both men and women in STEM fields. The event ended with a call to inspire young girls to pursue careers in science, contributing to the country's technological development.
Meanwhile, the Gajraj Corps of the Indian Army and IIT Guwahati had recently signed an agreement to develop epoxy bamboo-based composites as an alternative to traditional building materials for high-altitude defense structures.
The collaboration aims to create lighter, stronger panels for bunkers that can withstand small-arms fire and extreme weather conditions, improving transport efficiency and protecting forces.
The MoU, signed in the presence of key officials, supports the Indian Army's "Decade of Transformation" plan and fosters collaboration between the military, research institutions, and industry to advance technological solutions for national defense and the "Atmanirbhar Bharat" initiative.
