Indian Army Jawan Found dead in Tinsukia district

Tinsukia: An Indian Army Jawan was found dead at the Food and Supply camp in Assam’s Tinsukia district on Thursday night.

He was found dead with bullet injuries under mysterious situation inside the field supply depot of Panitola in upper Assam.

Narendra Kumar, the deceased Indian Army soldier has been identified deployed in the artillery unit of the security forces and a resident of Himachal Pradesh.

On Thursday evening the incident took place when the soldier along with few other jawans went to the cantonment for an official purpose.

The sources added that his body was recovered from inside an Army truck.

A senior official from the Indian Army’s Dao Division headquarters in Dinjan said that a court of inquiry has been ordered into the incident for fact-finding.

The executive magistrate of Tinsukia district said that the post-mortem of the deceased soldier has been conducted and a bullet mark at his chin has been found while interacting with media in connection to the incident.

He added that they were informed of the incident by Kumar’s fellow jawan who said that he shot himself by his service revolver.

Narendra Kumar hails from Himachal Pradesh. The actual reason for his death is yet to be established, some people have suspected it to be a suicide case. Kumar’s body has been sent for postmortem.

As per reports, fingerprints of his service weapon are also examined.

However, there is no official report from the Indian Army till the filing of this report and efforts to speak to senior Army officials in Dinjan Division turned futile.

The investigation is still on. More details are awaited.
