DIGBOI: In the run-up of the nation’s 79th Independence Day, the Indian Army in order to ignite a sense of patriotism among the youths and the student community on Tuesday showcased its military prowess and new generation warfare capabilities at the premises of Buri-Dehing School at Pengaree in Tinsukia district.
“The event was celebrated as part of the International Youth Day, extending a challenge to the young minds to dream bigger, aim higher and be ready to defend the ideals that define our nation,” stated a formal press communique issued by the Indian Army.
The event at Burhidihing School brought together 350 students and 10 teachers in a spectacular display of India’s military might.
“From sleek, precision-engineered rifles to whirring surveillance drones scanning the skies, every exhibit told a story of India’s resilience, ingenuity and readiness to meet tomorrow’s challenges today,” added the formal communication.
On interaction, the students said that they were both mesmerised and inspired by their Armed Forces and many of them expressed their desire to join the Indian Army.
The event organised by the Army connected the local youth with the modern face of its Armed Forces and inspired them to become part of a legacy that defends not only borders, but also values. Notably, the International Youth Day is an annual awareness day designated by the United Nations to celebrate the potential of youth as partners in today’s global society and to bring attention to issues surrounding them. The day is observed every year on August 12.
