Indian Red Cross Society Margherita Hosts Cancer Screening and Awareness Programme at Dehing Tea Estate

TINSUKIA: Indian Red Cross Society Margherita Branch organized an oral, breast and cervical cancer screening and awareness programme among the tea garden workers of Dehing tea estate in Margherita sub-district, Tinsukia today.

Dr Shatabdi Sarma, Oncologist, Assam Cancer Care Foundation, explained in detail about prevention, early detection, and treatment of different types of cancer. More than 200 workers of the tea estate were screened during the programme, which was held under the CSR initiative of Hindustan Oil Exploration Company (HOEC) in association with Assam Cancer Care Foundation. Pavitra Borgohain, Secretary of Red Cross Society, Margherita Branch, stated that subsequently, more such screening and awareness camps among the workers of different tea estates will be conducted over the coming days.

Ashwini Gogoi, Secretary, Assam Sahitya Sabha, Margherita Branch, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
