LAKHIMPUR: The North Lakhimpur regional unit of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Parishad (AJYP) has urged Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma to induce online mode of teaching comprehensively in the government schools of the State which are once again closed at present due to the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the organization has appealed to the Chief Minister to exempt the land revenue too in order to provide relief to the affected farmers of the State.

In support of these demands, a delegation of the North Lakhimpur regional unit of AJYP, led by president Manoj Kalita, submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through Sumit Sattawan, the Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur district, on Monday. Through the same memorandum, the organization called upon the Chief Minister to take adequate step to reduce the prices of chemical fertilizers for the benefit of the farmers, who have been critically affected by the pandemic situation.

Notably, though the schools of the State, including that of Lakhimpur district too, have adopted online mode of teaching to make up for the academic loss of students during the COVID-19 pandemic, the process cannot cover all students due to various technical reasons.
