SIVASAGAR: Gargaon College, in collaboration with its Internal Quality Assurance Cell, organized an induction programme to introduce 23 add-on courses amongst the student fraternity on Saturday.

The add-on courses would be provided by Gargaon College and they are approved by Dibrugarh University. The courses have been introduced with the aim to bridge the gap between industry and academia by enhancing employability skills in different areas among the students and to cope up with the New Education Policy-2020.

Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, Principal of Gargaon College, delivered the inaugural speech wherein he emphasized that students must not only develop and supplement their degree subject by the add-on courses but also develop entrepreneurial skills. He motivated the students by elaborating on how to stand out after graduation in an increasingly competitive and globalized job market. He also stated that the professionally oriented add-on programmes would give the students an edge over their peers with only a conventional undergraduate degree.

Of the 23 courses, 16 have been launched in the first phase. The course coordinators presented a brief overview of the course and motivated the students to join in greater number and avail the benefit.

The programme was attended by a huge number of students along with the teaching fraternity and staff of Gargaon College.
