GOLAGHAT: The Golaghat district administration has directed all the ineligible families availing of the facility of ration cards and getting free rice under the NFS (National Food Security) Scheme-2013, to return their ration cards.

Following allegations against such families, the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department of Golaghat issued the notice signed by Golaghat Deputy Commissioner Bibhash Chandra Modi, on Wednesday.

All government employees, pensioners and private sector employees having an annual income of Rs 1 lakh; established businessmen and farmers; as well as persons having four-wheeler vehicles and RCC houses have been asked to return their ration cards to the subdivisional office of the department concerned immediately.

If such beneficiaries are found to be availing of the NFS scheme, legal action will be taken against them under the 'Essential Commodities Act-1955', stated a press statement issued by Golaghat DIPRO, Pompy Devi.
