Inspiring Talks and Cultural Festivities Mark Day 5 of Digboi National Book Fair

Motivational speakers Partha Jyoti Baruah and Utpal Borah inspired students, followed by a vibrant cultural evening with local performances on Day 5 of the Digboi National Book Fair.

TINSUKIA: The Digboi National Book Fair, which was organized by the voluntary group Prayas, completed its fifth day at the Muliabari Playground on Thursday, December 5, 2024. The fair is taking place from December 1 to 8 and has witnessed many participants attending the event, with the day's highlights being motivational talks and a vibrant cultural program.

The event began with a warm welcome by Dr. Sanjita Chetia, Professor at Digboi Women's College and Vice-President Dr Jovial Kalita. Dr Chetia gave the welcome speech in the event conducted by Prayas Editor Manoranjan Das. Journalist Utpal Borah inspired students by stressing the importance of respecting parents and teachers, placing them as guiding figures in their journey through life.

The chief guest, Partha Jyoti Baruah, delivered a very motivational speech to the students, encouraging them to use books as tools for personal and intellectual growth. He passionately explained how reading is essential for developing the mind and shaping one's future.

The day had Nirupama Goswami, poet and retired teacher, who charmed the audience with a humorous story. More than 200 students from Digboi Women's College, RJ Junior College, and Tingrai Jatiya Vidyalaya attended the session. The event was graced by Digboi Women’s College’s Dr Jyotika Saikia, Dr Preity Doul Baruah, and Parul Gogoi apart from other community leaders and teachers.

The evening ended with a cultural program inaugurated by Dibyajyoti Dutta, Officer-in-Charge of Digboi Police Station. There were devotional songs, group dances, and poems recited by the performer. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Rideep Baruah, a youth poet.
