Inter-district yoga competition in connection with ‘Fit India Movement’ held in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh: An inter-district yoga competition in connection with the ‘Fit India Movement’ special awareness programme was held here at Vivekananda Kendra School, Lachit Nagar recently.

The programme, organized by Field Outreach Bureau, under Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Dibrugarh, in association with Shivananda Yogjyoti Mahavidyalaya, was inaugurated by lighting of lamp by renowned social worker Sarif Ahmed along with Ravindranath Savekar, Principal of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Pranab Kumar Nath, Field Publicity Officer, and other dignitaries, who in their speeches emphasized the importance of yoga in our life.

The yoga competition was organized under seven age group categories and was judged by Dr. Sailesh Pujari, Rashmi Rekha Bora and Nibhash Paul. Former Head of the Department of Physics of Jawaharlal Nehru University and renowned social worker, Dr. Kunjalata Deori and vice-chairman of AMDCL, Sonu Roy, were honored with Lifetime Service award, while yoga teacher and State yoga referee Utpal Baruah were honored with Yoga-Prerona award. The programme also included yoga demonstrations, acro-yoga demonstrations, cultural dance, violin play, veteran yoga show, discussion on healthy lifestyle and prize distribution.
