Pensioners’ Fortnight event organized by Association concludes in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh: Secretary of the Dibrugarh branch of the Government Pensioner Association, Assam, Fatik Chandra Bora informed that the Pensioners’ Fortnight event organized by the association concluded in January 30.

The event had begun on January 17, on the occasion of Silpi Divas. The event, an annual effort of the organization to move closer to the public, saw many developments happening under its banner during the said time period. The event was inaugurated by noted researcher and educationist, Dr. Dilip Ranjan Borthakur. Professor of Dibru College, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Jain delivered a speech on Jyotiprasad Agarwala. In keeping with the day, Jyoti Sangeet was presented by child artistes, Prayashi Dutta and Anuradha Baruah. Noted doctor, Dr. Hiren Gogoi and Officer of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Purnananda Bharali delivered a detailed talk on cleanliness on January 21 to the students and teachers of the Dibrugarh Jatiya Vidyalaya, Tepor Gaon.

After observing Republic Day on January 26, advocate Rimamani Bordoloi delivered a speech on human rights on January 28. On the last day of the event, an all-religion prayer meet was organized on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day. The day witnessed many notable people paying tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. A speech on the life of Mahatma Gandhi was also delivered by famed litterateur Ratneshwar Bora.
