SIVASAGAR: Gargaon College hosted an online international workshop on 'Intellectual Property Rights for the Promotion and Protection of Innovations' from May 16 to May 21.

The workshop was organized by IQAC, Gargaon College in collaboration with DPIIT-IPR Chair, Tezpur University, and IPEG, The City Law School, University of London. The workshop-cum-forum led to an exchange of innovative ideas amongst students, researchers, faculty members and innovators. It created awareness for issues relating to IPR in daily life and helped participants understand all aspects of IPR from patents, copyrights, trademarks, etc.

On May 19, an innovative idea competition with cash prizes was organized under the topic 'Innovative Ecosystem' at the undergraduate levels to inspire and celebrate youth-led ideas and to highlight the potential of young people for a sustainable future. Ankur Gogoi from Gargaon college bagged the first prize, Lobsang Tashi, Sharmina Begum and Gouranga Boruah from University of Science and Technology Meghalaya won the second prize, and Ansuman Sensowa, Anupam Dey, Rummanna Yesmin Ahmed, Sadikur Rohman from Gargaon College won the third prize.

The programme concluded on May 21, with a valedictory function in which Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, Principal of Gargaon College, thanked all the resource persons and the participants for their active participation. He appreciated the endeavors of the organizers, as well as the judges of the competition. He further thanked the collaborating institutions and congratulated all the winners of the innovative ideas competition.
