NAGAON: The online trading scam has taken a new twist in Nagaon, with hundreds of investors gathering outside the residence of Kashyap Phukan, one of the accused in the scam on Sunday. The investors, who had invested their money in the Bulls Eyes trading company, assembled at Nagaon Nehrubali field and then arrived at the residence of Kashyap Phukan at Nagaon Morikolong area. The investors created ruckus at his residence, demanding a refund of their money.

The situation turned volatile when the police arrived and immediately brought Kashyap Phukan to Nagaon police station to control the situation, sources said, adding that the investors then followed the police to the Nagaon police station, demanding action against Phukan and another accused, Anirban Deori.

The investors claimed that they had invested large sums of money in the online trading company Bulls Eye, promising high returns, but had not received any benefits. They are now facing difficulties in recovering their invested amount.

Significantly, earlier the police had registered cases against the accused in both the Nagaon police station and the CID. The police have begun interrogating Kashyap Phukan.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Jayanta Baruah told local mediapersons here that Phukan was taken into custody to maintain law and order and to facilitate investigation. The people of Nagaon demanded a thorough investigation into the scam, which involves crores of rupees. Many investors had invested between Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh with the online trading company.

The police are yet to apprehend Anirban Deori, another key accused in the scam. The investors demanded immediate police action to recover their invested amount, sources added further.
