ITDP chairman, journalists felicitated in Lakhimpur district

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district unit of All Assam Unemployed Association (AAUA) organized a felicitation programme on Sunday in its office located at Adatsha Bazaar premises in North Lakhimpur town. In the programme, the organization accorded warm felicitation to Abhijit Sonowal, the newly appointed chairman of Project Implementation Committee of Integrated Tribal Development Project (PIC-ITDP) for Lakhimpur district under the Welfare of Plain Tribes & Other Backward Classes (WPT&BC) Department, Government of Assam, and the new Executive Committee members of the North Lakhimpur Press Club (NLPC) along with other journalists of the Lakhimpur district headquarter.

The programme organized on this occasion was held under the management of Lakhimpur district unit AAUA president Binod Das. It commenced with AAUA State general secretary Jiban Rajkhowa in the chair. NLPC vice-president Kumud Saikia, secretary Karauna Krishna Nath, PIC-ITDP chairman Abhijit Sonowal delivered speeches in the programme. The PIC-ITDP chairman and the journalists were feted with phulam gamosa, japi and a citation.

Abhijit Sonowal started his social service life by joining AAUA in 2008. He led the Lakhimpur district unit of the organization as general secretary from 2010 to 2014. He left the organization formally in 2016. Later he joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). On November 17, the Governor of Assam appointed him as the chairman of the 28 members PIC-ITDP for Lakhimpur district.
