MANGALDAI: The Government of Assam conferred the prestigious Parivesh Mitra Award on eminent septuagenarian journalist and environmental activist Jayanta Kumar Das of Kalaigaon, Udalguri district, on the occasion of World Environment Day. The award ceremony, held in Guwahati, saw Assam Science, Technology, and Climate Change Minister Keshab Mahanta presenting the honour in the presence of ASTEC Director Dr. Jaideep Barua, CSIR-NEIST Scientist Dr. Binoy Kr Saikia, and IASST Director Professor Ashish Kr Mukherjee.

Instituted by the Department of Science, Technology, and Climate Change in collaboration with the Assam Science, Technology, and Environment Council (ASTEC), the Parivesh Mitra Award recognizes individuals for their exceptional contributions to wildlife, nature, and environmental conservation.
