Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Divas observed at Doomdooma

DOOMDOOMA: For the first time Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Divas was observed by Tinsukia Zila Xahitya Xabha (TZXX) at Doomdooma in association with Doomdooma Sakha Xahitya Xabha (DSXX) at DSXX premises with a two-day long programme on Sunday and Monday. On Sunday drawing, recitation of poems of Bishnu Rabha and open quiz competitions were held among the students. Dr P.J.Deka, Secretary, Indian Medical Association (IMA), Doomdooma Branch inaugurated the events. On the second day, the programme got underway in the morning with hoisting of flag by president, Tinsukia Zila Xahitya Xabha Arjun Baruah. It was followed by the lighting of ceremonial lamp and offering of floral tributes at the portrait of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha by Dr Girish Handique, executive member, Assam Xahitya Xabha (AXX).

In the afternoon a commemorative-cum-prize distribution meeting was held with president, TZXX Arjun Baruah in the chair. Bina Devi Bordoloi, former Vice-Principal Doomdooma college, dwelt on the struggling as well as creative life of Bishnu Prasad Rabha as invited speaker. The meeting was attended by Secretary, TZXX Manoram Baruah and President, DSXX Bimala Baruah. The prizes of various competitions were given away in the meeting.
