Kalaigaon 35th Raax Celebration gets Underway

KALAIGAON: The Kalaigaon Raax celebration committee started the 35th Raax celebration with traditional pomp and gaiety from Monday.

The 12-day programme started with a cleanliness drive on an inaugural day on Monday. A colourful procession on the occasion was inaugurated by Sujata Goswami, Revenue Circle Officer of Kalaigaon, where EM Jagadish Sarkar and Circle Officer Biraj Kr. Barua took part. State PHE Minister Rihon Daimari inaugurated the Raax and he was accompanied by Maheswar Boro, MLA of Kalaigaon.

On the occasion of the Raax, a religious discussion will be held on November 19 and it will be inaugurated by minister Bhabesh Kalita. Janardan Deva Goswami, Xatradhikar of Uttar Kamalabari Xatra of Majuli will attend as the chief guest. A souvenir will be released on the occasion by Paramananda Rajbongshi, president of Axam Xahitya Xabha.

Prakash Ranjan Gharphalia, Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri, and Longnit Teron, Superintendent of Police of Udalguri, will attend the function as distinguished guests. The Raax celebration will conclude on November 22.
