Kampa Borgoyari congratulates new Vice-Chancellor of Kokrajhar University

KOKRAJHAR:  Former Deputy Chief of BTC Kampa Borgoyari on Tuesday extended congratulation to the newly-appointed Vice-Chancellor of Kokrajhar University, Prof Ganesh Chandra Wary, and hoped that the new university will be a, centre of excellence under his devotion.

Borgoyari said that the dedication, hard work, and contributions of Prof Chandra Wary to the academic community were truly inspiring. He also said that under his visionary leadership, Kokrajhar University would reach new heights and greatly benefit the students and the region.

Mention may be made that Kokrajhar University is a newly-established university in Assam, which was previously known as Kokrajhar Government College. The Assam Legislative Assembly approved the Kokrajhar University Bill on February 26, 2024, following the guidelines of the National Education Policy, 2020. The university was established after Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria gave his formal assent to the Kokrajhar University Act, 2024, on March 15, 2024. The university is located in Harinaguri, Kokrajhar. It’s a teaching and research-oriented university, affiliating and semi-residential, with provisions for open and distance learning (ODL) facilities. The Kokrajhar University will have a Master of Arts (MA) programme with specializations in subjects like Assamese, Bodo, English, Economics, History, Political Science, Education, and Geography. Kokrajhar University is expected to boost the educational infrastructure in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), becoming the second university in the region after Bodoland University. The Kokrajhar Government College was officially upgraded to Kokrajhar University on July 22, 2024, marking a significant development in the region’s educational landscape.
