HOWRAGHAT: After successfully evicting thousands of alleged Bangladeshi encroachers from Langkaijan, a vast stretch of revenue and forest land of Karbi Anglong autonomous district bordering Hojai district, last year, the (KAAC) Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council intensively carried out schematic development works through various line departments in the locality.

Thousands of acres of land which were illegally captured by encroachers were cleared by the council authority to provide space to the original Karbi community who are the inhabitants of the land. The whole exercise was done as per the pre-poll commitment of BJP. In less than one year, the area has witnessed the tremendous pace of development under the leadership of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang and Executive Member of Land Revenue department, Amarsing Tisso.

The council authority observed its accomplishment with a two-day long celebration commencing from December 27 at Langkaijan. The grand closing ceremony was attended by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council chief Tuliram Ronghang, and Member of Parliament Horen Sing Bey, Executive Members and hundreds of government officials and party activists.

Horen Sing Bey, while acclaiming the landmark triumph of the council authority, said that the authority had provided hundreds of ring wells to the settlers along with other government-sponsored benefits and this had been made possible by the BJP. He laid stress on the council authority to complete the construction of all-weather roads in the area for making better living conditions.

Council chief Tuliram Ronghang in his speech said that major works of the Lankaijan project would be completed by the council as per the party’s commitment towards the people. He asserted that his counsel would not allow an inch of Karbi Anglong land to be encroached by anyone. He said that the council would issue land patta to the legal settlers soon and install forest check gate, border outpost for ensuring the safety and security of the area.
