Kaushik Rai to Lead BJP’s 19-Member Committee for Silchar Corporation Elections

SILCHAR: State BJP president Dilip Saikia has constituted a 19-member Election Management Committee for the ensuing Silchar Corporation polls.

Minister Kaushik Rai has been appointed convenor of the committee, while Silchar MLA Dr Rajdeep Roy has been named member secretary.

Other members of the committee are MP Parimal Shuklabaidya, Rajya Sabha MP Kanad Purkayastha, West Bengal Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev, MLAs Rajdeep Goala and Kishor Nath, and former MLAs Dipayan Chakrabarty, Dilip Paul and Nihar Ranjan Das.

The committee also includes district BJP president Rupam Saha, former district president Bimalendu Roy, district general secretaries Amitabha Rai and Gopal Kanti Roy, vice-president Chameli Paul, former Zila Parishad member Ramakrishna Sinha, Rina Singh and Susmita Purkayastha.

Kaushik Rai expressed gratitude to Saikia for entrusting him with the responsibility and appealed to all members of the committee to work towards ensuring victory for the party in all 42 wards of the newly formed corporation.
