Khring Khring Baithou Puja programme begins in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The central event of Khring Khring Baithou Puja, the major religious event of the Sonowal Kachari community of the State, started in Lakhimpur on Sunday with a two-day long agenda.
The programme was organized under the aegis of Directorate of Culture, Government of Assam, in association with the Lakhimpur district administration and Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council (SKAC) at Gojai-Monai Kshetra located at Boginadi in the district.
The event began with the main gate inauguration of the event venue by Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jeevan B. It was followed by stall inauguration by SKAC deputy chief executive member Tankewar Sonowal. Baithou Samaj president Cheniram Sonowal inaugurated the camps of the programme. Mritak tarpan programme to pay tribute to the ancestors was conducted by Joyram Sonowal.
In connection with the event, a symposium on ‘Baithou Philosphy and Baithou Worship’ was organized and it was chaired by organizing committee president Kosheswar Sonowal. Then the invocation of the Deo was performed with religious fervour.
The Directorate of Culture will hold its programmes on Monday. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will grace the occasion as chief guest while State Cultural Affairs Minister Naba Kumar Doley will be present as guest of honour along with a galaxy of MLAs and many other noted personalities.
