Kironmoyee Hazarika Baruah honoured with Kharanon Barthakur Good Organizer’s award

DOOMDOOMA: Kironmoyee Hazarika Baruah, a member of Doomdooma Sakha Lekhika Samaroh Samiti (DSLSS) and vice-president, Sadou Asom Lekhika Samaroh Samiti (SALSS), received the Kharanon Barthakur commemorative Good Organizer’s award 2025 jointly with Jyostnapriya Devi, president, Bongaigaon Zilla Lekhika Samaroh Samiti, at a meeting held at Sivasagar recently.

The meeting was organized under the auspices of SALSS and in collaboration with Sivasagar Zilla Lekhika Samaroh Samiti at Sivasagar Milan Mandir to observe the 5th death anniversary of Padma Shri Dr Sheela Barthakur, the founder president of SALSS, and the giving away of the Good Organizer’s award ceremony.

This was the second such award given to DSLSS. Its founder president, Bina Deka (now deceased), also a former vice president of SALSS, was the first to receive this award in 2022 at a function held at Dhekiajuli.

Born on January 1, 1966, to Jatindra Nath Hazarika and Nilima Hazarika (both deceased) at Daimukhia Tea Estate, Kironmoyee did her MA in Political Science and is a teacher at Hoonlal HS school. A recipient of a competent teacher’s award of Tinsukia district in 2015, she joined DSLSS in December 1993. She has edited a good number of books, writes poems, and is a widely travelled person, having covered as many as 15 countries of the world.

Her recognition was greatly received by organizations like DSLSS, Doomdooma Satodal Sakha Xahitya Xabha, Doomdooma Senior Citizens’ Association, Ramdhenu Mahila Chora, Doomdooma, Rupai Satodal Sakha Xahitya Xabha, Assam Science Society, Doomdooma Branch, Rotary Club of Doomdooma, Lions Club of Doomdooma Tea City, and others.
