BONGAIGAON: "The Koch Rajbongshi Sahitya Sabha wants to destroy the uniqueness and identity of the Koch Rajbongshi language. Koch Rajbongshi National Forum condemns it and will never let it happen," said Biswajit Ray and Bimal Kumar Barman, president and secretary general of Koch Rajbongshi National Forum, on Wednesday at a press meet held at the Greater Bongaigaon Press Club premises.
He said that Koch Rajbongshi people used different accents in different places. "But Koch Rajbongshi Sahitya Sabha is trying to adopt the accent of one place from Bengal include that accent in Lower Primary level schools of Koch Rajbongshi-dominated areas. They are treating this sensitive issue very casually. We, the Koch Rajbongshi National Forum wanted to solve the issue with the support of all Koch Rajbongshi people and hence organized a meeting on August 10 at the Bongaigaon Public Library where all scholars and noted persons of the community were present. Some advice was given by the scholars there but the Koch Rajbongshi Sahitya Sabha did not pay any heed to their advice. This is very unofrtunate. So, we are again going to organize an open discussion of Koch Rajbongshi scholars on August 27 and August 28 at Bongaigaon town where we hope to solve the matter," they said. They have submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and State Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu in this regard.
