TEZPUR: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tezpur organized National Science Day on February 28 with the theme 'Future of STI-Impacts of Education, Skills and Work'.

Arifa Momtaz Begum, Subject Matter Specialist (Community Science), in her welcome address explained the significance of observing National Science Day. Dr. Debendra Chandra Baruah, Professor, Department of Energy, Tezpur University delivered his lecture on 'Importance of Science in our day-to-day life'. He emphasized the importance of renewable energy in the present world.

Dr. Bikram Borkotoki, Junior Scientist, Biswanath College of Agriculture, Assam Agricultural University, Sanjukta Saikia, Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Protection), Dr. Bhrigu Kumar Neog, Subject Matter Specialist(Animal Science) and all the staff members of KVK, Sonitpur were also present in the occasion. Students of the Rural Agricultural Work Experience Programme (RAWEP) of Assam Agricultural University stationed at KVK, Sonitpur were also associated with the programme. They organized an art competition with the theme 'Environmental pollution' among the students of Class V to Class VIII where Bhairobi Boiri of Class V, Hira Devi of Class VI and Riya Bhuyan of Class VIII from Napam M. V. School received first, second and third prize respectively.

Moreover, a district-level quiz competition was organized among the students of class XI and class XII where RAWEP students, Bhargab Dev Sarmah and Barnamala Kalita acted as quiz masters. First prize was awarded to the team of Alex Shivam of Dimension Academy and Himanku Saikia of Darrang College. Second position was secured by the team of Rajdeep Bezbaruah and Shobhitya Raj Borah of Darrang College. Third position was awarded to the team of Nishad Anam of Dimension Academy and Deepsikha Patowary of Darrang College. More than 100 students from different institutions attended the programme.

GOALPARA: The GEOID Forum of Goalpara, in association with the Goalpara Vidyapith High School, organized on Sunday the National Science Day and Swachaata Action Plan at the school premises. The meeting was presided over by Ajit Kumar Barua, Headmaster of the school. Dr. Dulal Baruah, assistant professor of Goalpara College, elaborately spoke on National Science Day and its significance.

Saida Islam, assistant teacher of Goalpara Vidyapith High School, delivered a detailed speech on the different aspects of the Swachaata Action Plan. Dr. Mantu. Kr Das, Principal of Habraghat Mahavidylaya, Krishnai and Dhananjoy Medhi also spoke on the occasion and informed the students of different interesting facts of science in day-to-day life.
