Lakhimpur DC inspects construction progress of Municipal Roads

LAKHIMPUR: Lakhimpur DC Dr. Jeevan B on Thursday and Friday inspected the construction work of 31 municipal roads being constructed with an investment of Rs 5.50 crore allotted under the special grant to the North Lakhimpur Municipal Board.

During these two days, DC inspected four roads out of 31. While inspecting, he discovered flaws in the construction work of Dondeswar Gogoi Road and another road passing near the District Employment Exchange office. Notably, the Dondeswar Gogoi Road has been constructed with a fund amounting to Rs 16,48,718 while the other has been constructed at an amount of Rs 13,20,621.

The DC instructed the contractors concerned to rectify the construction work. It is noteworthy that the local people have alleged massive misappropriation of funds with regard to the construction of these 31 municipal roads as no officials from the Municipal Board has supervised the implementation of the work.

These allegations resulted in the inspection of DC on Thursday and Friday. On being contacted, the DC informed The Sentinel that he would inspect the construction work of all 31 roads for the sake of better implementation of the funds allotted. He further informed me that he would not compromise with the quality of the works.
