LAKHIMPUR: Alleging comprehensive failure on the part of the BJP-led Union and State governments with regard to controlling national economic slowdown, alarmingly growing unemployment problem, sky rocketing price hike of essential commodities, the Lakhimpur District Congress Committee (LDCC) on Friday staged massive mass protest programme in Lakhimpur.

Led by LDCC president Dr Joy Prakash Das, hundreds of Congress activists took out a protest rally from the Rajiv Bhawan regarding the mentioned issues covering the North Lakhimpur town. Then they demonstrated near the District Post Office on the NH-15. The protesters shook the environment of the town by shouting multiple anti-government slogans.

Leading the protest, Dr. Joy Praksh Das came down heavily against both governments. He slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging that the so-called development of the nation at present was nothing but his gift of the gab.

“Under the regime of Narendra Modi, the economy of the nation is in bad shape. Despite such circumstances, the Prime Minister staged Howdy Mody in the USA, has frequently conducted foreign tours by spending crores of public money,” alleged the LDCC president in front of the mediapersons. In addition to him, LDCC administrative general secretary Pradip Gogoi, general secretary Gangajyoti Tayegam, former president Kan Nath Phukan also became vocal against the BJP governments while staging the protest. The activists and dignitaries of the brother-sister organizations of the political party were present in the protest programme.
