LAKHIMPUR: A talented youth of Lakhimpur has brought laurels to the district by holding national and international record with his talent of innovative iron nail art. The youth is Kapil Baruah, son of Manik Baruah and Numali Baruah, resident of village Chungapara under Panigaon Police Station of the district.

Kapil Baruah, who is a teacher by profession at Alichiga Khaboli LP School, portrayed Sudhakantha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika by using 12,181 iron nails, fixing them on a plywood board with 4 feet length and 3 feet breadth. He started this endeavour on November 5, the death anniversary of the music maestro, and finished it on November 16. Then he sent this artistic work to the authorities of India Book of Records, Asia Book of Records and International Book of Records. Of late, the three authorities have separately recognized the unique artistic work of the youth as record and included his name in their Book of Records.

Meanwhile, India Book of Records, Asia Book of Records and International Book of Records have informed Kapil Baruah about his record via email and sent the due certificates to him. Notably, the youth scripted his name in the Assam Book of Records by portraying Mahatma Gandhi with 3,120 iron nails within seven hours.
