Silchar: Price of the LPG cylinder would be reduced to Rs 600 and those consumers having Ujjwala facility, would have to pay just Rs 250 for the same, stated the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.  In a daylong marathon campaigning in the three districts of Barak Valley for the ensuing Panchayat election, Sarma highlighted various welfare schemes his government had undertaken for the benefit of the downtroddens. On the other hand the Chief Minister in clear terms declared that nobody supporting Pakistan would be spared.

Addressing a massive rally in Nilambazar in Sribhumi district, Sarma stressed upon various beneficiary schemes as he said, the erstwhile Congress government used to distribute only ‘lungi’ and threads to woo the votes of a particular community, but the BJP government had been sincerely working for all the sections of the society for the last eight years. Criticizing the Congress for its alleged politics of appeasement, Sarma said, during the BJP regime, there had been not single instance of conflicts between any two communities, be it Assamese-Bengali or Bodo-Muslims.

Highlighting the benefits of the ration cards, the Chief Minister said, those having ration cards would be eligible for free medical facilities apart from essential commodities. He said, presently the price of the domestic LPG cylinder was Rs 902 in Guwahati and Rs 987 in the Barak Valley, but very soon it would come down to Rs 600 only and consumers under the Ujjwala scheme, the price would be just Rs 250.

Later in the day, the Chief Minister addressed rallies at Ainakhal in Hailakandi and Haticherra in Cachar. He introduced the ruling alliance candidates for the ZPC to the audience and sought blessings from the voters.
