Madhabilata Literary Award given away

DOOMDOOMA: Noted poet and former president of Tinsukia Zila Sahityasevi Mancha (TZSM) Sarifa Khatun Chaudhury was presented the Madhabilata Literary Award for 2017-18 by Xatradhikar of Auniati Xatra, Dr Pitambar Deva Goswami at a solemn function in Tinsukia on Sunday held under the presidentship of Atul Sarmah, the president of TZSM, who instituted this award in memory of his mother Madhabilata Sarmah in 2003.

The award carries a cash amount of Rs 10,000, a memento, a citation, and a cheleng sadar. Xatradhikar Dr. Pitambar Deva Goswami delivered a lecture on the topic ‘Universality of Shankardeva’s Literature’ and appealed to all to go through Vashnavite literature to understand the spiritual values in a pan-India perspective that Shankardeva so assiduously tried to inculcate in the minds of the Assamese society.
