Magw Domashi & Puxona Celebrated at Ratanpur Village

Boko: Boro-inhabited villagers of Ratanpur village under Chaygaon Assembly constituency celebrated the Magw Domashi festival (Magh Bihu) on Wednesday with a day-long programme.

Hemanta Boro (55) of Ratanpur village, said that they have been celebrating this festival since their childhood. People of the village of all ages performed Bardoisikhila, Rumbang and Musaglani Bodo dances. They also organized traditional games like duck catching, oily bamboo climbing, running and art competition.

Before the programme, all the elderly people were felicitated with the traditional Aronai. Villagers celebrated the harvest festival by preparing different sweet dishes and rice cakes like pita, laru, sithao, mola and sobai gwran.

Similarly, Deshi Janagosthiya Manch, Kamrup district’s Baruah and Chandra unit organized Puxona Festival (Magh Bihu) at Balijhar village in Boko constituency on Wednesday. The minority people of this village along with local public celebrate this festival. Abdul Matleb Ali, president of Deshi Jangosthiyo Yuba Satra Manch, said that various competitions like traditional food-making competition, art competition, quiz and essay-writing competitions were held.
