MANGALDAI: “The demand for the construction of the bypass of NH 15 bifurcating it from Mangaldai -the busy district headquarters town of Darrang district was raised in 1975 but due to the indifferent and negligent attitude of the previous government, it failed to see the light of the day. In my parliamentary poll campaign, I took it as a priority and following the concern of both the BJP-led Union and the State governments towards Darrang district, the foundation of the four-lane bypass has been laid virtually by the Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari in presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on June 5. It is also the credit of the double engine BJP government to declare the four laning of the 120-km stretch of NH 15 from its zero point at Baihata Chariali to Mission Chariali in Tezpur,” said Mangaldai Parliamentarian Dilip Saikia while addressing a press meet at the meeting hall of the office of the District Committee of BJP here at Mangaldai on Thursday afternoon.
The press meet was convened as per the ‘Maha Sampark Abhiyan’ to celebrate the successful completion of glorious nine years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi led-BJP government. Media persons from all the ten legislative assembly segments of Mangaldai HPC attended the press meet. Terming the prompt reconstruction of the Jwalimukh bundh in the Udalguri district on the foothills of Bhutan as the reflection of the commitment of the BJP government towards its countrymen, Parliamentarian Saikia recalled the rampant devastation caused by the unprecedented flood following the breach of this bundh in last year in the Darrang district.
“The criticism of the opposition political parties against the BJP government is not for the interest of the people of the country, but to destabilize the country,” he said.
The press meet was also attended by legislators Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi of Sipajhar and Diganta Kalita of Kamalpur, BJP leaders Nilima Devi, Guru Jyoti Das, Juri Sarma Bordoloi, BJP Darrang district president Amarendra Sarma and others.
Parliamentarian Saikia termed Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as one of the most dynamic and successful Chief Ministers of the country. He termed the recent eviction at Batadraba, Dhalpur, Orang National Park, Pabhoi and other places as the biggest achievement in protection and conservation of the heritage sites from the clutches of the organized gang of the encroachers. He also termed it as a major achievement to withdraw the AFSPA from 25 districts of Assam and scrapping of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir.
