Man allegedly killed in Barpeta town

BARPETA: A murder took place in the heart of Barpeta town. Harekrishna Das (45) of Barpeta Brindaban Hati was allegedly hit by one Biki Das, son of Binoy Das of Palangdi Hati, Barpeta, in front of his residence over a simple issue on the night of April 26 when Biki Das and his friends were coming from a dinner party.

Harekrishna Das became unconscious and was admitted in the Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital (FAAMCH), Barpeta. But when his condition became serious, he was taken to Guwahati and admitted in a private nursing home. He breathed his last on Wednesday.

His body was brought to Barpeta on Thursday. The enraged locals took the body in front of the house of Biki Das. All the youths who were allegedly involved in this murder are absconding. The family members of Harekrishna Das lodged an FIR against them.
