Man kills wife, abandons baby near wife’s body in Mangaldai

MANGALDAI: In a shocking incident, a man killed his wife and abandoned the body in a field and left his six-month-old baby along with the body. This incident took place in a village field near Mudoibori under Mangaldai Police Station on March 9. Meanwhile, the police within 24 hours arrested the absconding accused person named Foinuddin Mandal of village Bandia under Mangaldai Police Station on Tuesday evening. He has confessed his involvement in the gruesome murder of his wife.

According to information, the villagers heard the cries of a baby and rushed to the spot. To their utter shock, they found the baby along with the body of his mother. The victim has been identified as Ashfuli Khatun (22), daughter of Moinul Ali of village No. 2 Baghpori near here. The police led by Officer-in-charge of Mangaldai Police Station, Inspector Niranjan Barua on Tuesday morning arrested three persons -Rabia Khatun, Amanat Ali and Mokser Ali -on suspicion and on the basis of their confession, the police ascertained the involvement of the accused husband.

The baby was immediately admitted to Mangaldai Civil Hospital under the care of lady cops. The police have registered a case vide Mangaldai Police Station case number 182/2020 under section 302/201/34 of the Indian Penal Code. Significantly, the arrested accused person- a daily wage earner - earlier had married thrice and due to his indecent behavior and physical torture, all the three wives separated from him.
