KOKRAJHAR: Continuing its welfare gesture to the poor people of remote villages, the Manab Seva Sangha (MSS), a Kokrajhar based NGO working for the welfare of economically weaker people on Thursday donated brass musical instruments to Kolobari villagers under Serfanguri PS of Kokrajhar district and also donated the amount for construction of a bridge in an approaching road at Gwthwibari in Dotma on the same day.
The five brass musical instruments including cornet, trumpet, flugelhorn, tuba and trombone was given to "Ajwla Gumwi" band team of Kolobari village who are poor professional band team with a lack of musical instruments. The musical instruments were given away by chief advisor Binod Kr. Brahma, president Birkhang Boro and secretary Narathan Roy to the band group. The Ajwla Gumwi group expressed their happiness and said the generous contribution to them with brass musical instruments has added them strength as they had been running the group with insufficient and outdated musical instruments for long. They thanked the MSS for helping the poor and underprivileged people.
Talking to this correspondent, the chief advisor of MSS Binod Kr Brahma said the sangha was founded way back in 2016 with an objective to extend service to people especially to economically poor and underprivileged sections. He said they distributed blankets, yarn and other basic things besides extending support for building bridges and roads to the needy people in remote villages as part of its goodwill gesture. "We extended our support with rice, dal, edible oil and other requirements during nationwide lockdown due to COVID-19 in 2020," he said adding that they also extend help to poor and helpless people for medical treatment and organize awareness meetings against superstitious beliefs. He also said they will continue the public welfare activities for poor people.
