Bilasipara: A meeting was held in the conference hall of the SDO (Civil) office Bilasipara for discussion on security and other arrangements in connection with the celebration of the ensuing Durga Puja celebration. The meeting was presided over by the SDO(Civil) of Bilasipara Mridul Yadav and the circle officers of Bilasipara, Chapar, SDPO, Bilasipara. Officers of various departments, presidents, secretaries, members of various puja committees, volunteers etc. attended the meeting.

The SDO (Civil) said that the number of COVID cases has lessened in the sub-division and then he requested all the puja committee presidents and secretaries to abide by the guidelines directed by the Government of Assam. The guidelines were read out in the meeting and discussed.

The SDO (Civil) said that the first and the foremost step of every puja committee is that the priests, volunteers and the puja committee members has to undergo COVID test before puja starts (on Panchami day) and after immersion (Ekadasi day). The guidelines that were discussed in the meeting is that it is strict and mandatory for every puja pandal to have an entry and exit gate besides wearing of face masks, use of hand sanitizers for everyone inside the puja pandal.

Social distancing in a spacious area of the puja mandap and to be very much aware that no congestion takes place during aarti and pujas. Prasad distribution, community feasting, cultural programmes, high volume microphones, hate speech, songs, melas, road side food stalls, restaurants etc. are strictly prohibited.

The SDO(Civil) asked the puja committee members to keep a low profile inauguration of pandal and also immersion of the idol and should not create any havoc or hustle-bustle. The SDO (Civil) strictly ordered that the puja committee members will be solely responsible for any unruly incident in and outside the pandal. He further ensured that tidiness should be maintained during and after the festival is over and dustbins should be kept and proper hygiene should be maintained.
