TINSUKIA: Responding to the memorandum submitted by the Tinsukia Press Club (TPC) to the Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia regarding various problems faced by the citizens of Tinsukia, the Tinsukia administration held a meeting at the DC’s conference hall on Thursday where Oinam Sarankumar Singh, the Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia, Superintendent of Police Shiladitya Chetia, ASP Asif Ahmed along with Traffic and Sadar i/c, MLA of Tinsukia, Sanjay Kishan, officials of Tinsukia Municipal Board, DTO and representatives from youth and student wings were present. The TPC had submitted a memorandum highlighting 13 issues which were raised in a public meeting held at the initiative of TPC on September 7.

Initiating the discussion, ADC Gurnel Singh said that the meeting was aimed to evolve means to solve some of the burning issues of the town, including traffic and municipal issues, which TPC pertinently highlighted. In the threadbare discussion, several organizations, including media persons, interacted with the officials. Unauthorized parking of trucks, awareness on traffic rules, plying of unregulated e-rickshaws, traffic congestion, illegal constructions, road encroachments by vendors and food stalls and parking figured in the discussion.

Superintendent of Police Shiladitya Chetia, while discussing traffic issues, ensured that all measures would be taken during Durga Puja so as to end the celebration with festivities. He also opined to have monthly interaction with media persons. In his concluding remark, DC Oinam Sarankumar Singh, while lauding the steps taken by the TPC, asked the officials of Tinsukia Municipal Board to share information with the media persons, particularly about revenue collection and other matters.
