TEZPUR: In view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Sonitpur district, Medical Inspector of Plantations Tezpur, Dr Pradip Kumar Lahkar organized a meeting with representatives of the tea garden management of Sonitpur district along with secretary of ABITA and Tea Association of India. The meeting was held in the Assistant Labour Commissioner's office here on Thursday to discuss about latest SOP of COVID protocol in tea estates.

In the meeting, Joint Director of Health Services Sonitpur, senior managers and doctors from various tea gardens in the district were also present. During the meeting, Dr Lahkar directed all the managers to stop home isolation and to set up COVID Care Centre for asymptomatic COVID patients and symptomatic COVID patients should be sent to designated COVID hospital. He also explained details about government support to set up COVID Care Centre and other government support. Dr Lahkar also gave stress to form COVID monitoring cell in the garden and to make one executive as nodal officer to be in touch with different departments. He also requested to increase beds in COVID Care Centres as cases are increasing in tea gardens and to be in constant touch with district health authorities and district administration.

Attending the programme, Joint Director of Health Services, Sonitpur, Dr Jiauddin Ahmed requested all garden management to extend their cooperation to create extensive mass awareness in order to make the vaccination drive successful. Dr Ahmed laid stress on conducting Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) widely to detect COVID-19 patients among the garden workers and to take all precautionary measures as per COVID-19 protocol.
