Memoir on life and works of Shishubandhu Leela Upadhyaya released in Biswanath

Biswanath Chariali: A memoir compiled on the life and works of Shishubandhu Leela Upadhyaya was released on Friday on the occasion of the birthday of the social worker and retired teacher at a programme held at Bhanu Rangamancha, Galia, Biswanath Chariali by eminent science writer Prof Khiradhar Baruah.

Releasing the book, Prof Baruah highlighted Upadhaya's contribution towards society, particularly in the field of intellectual and physical development of children. He was conferred with the 'Sishubandhu' title by Sadou Asam Moina Parijat recently. 

The meeting was presided over by Surya Borah, president of Biswanath district Moina Parijat, while the proceedings were conducted by Chandra Luitel, editor of the memoir. A good number of social organizations and individuals felicitated Upadhaya with seleng sadar, gamosa and books. Vice-president of Sadou Asam Moina Parijat, Kamal Chandra Bhuyan was present in the programme as the distinguished speaker while welcome address was delivered by Bimal Gajirel on behalf of the family members of Upadhaya.
