DOOMDOOMA: The mid-term session of Doomdooma Press Club for the 2024-2026 tenure was held at its newly-constructed building on Sunday with a daylong programme. The programme got underway with hoisting of the flag by President Manoj Dutta followed by Smriti Tarpan initiated by Secretary Pradip Kumar Moran.

Thereafter, an interaction programme was held between the members of Doomdooma Press Club and newly-appointed Superintendent of Police of Doomdooma co-district Diganta Dutta and Officer-in-Charge, Doomdooma Police Station Inspector Pranjal Chetia. Both the officers were accorded warm felicitations with phoolam gamochas and mementos.

In their speeches, they underscored local issues of the area and highlighted the issue of school dropout noticeable among the criminals. The event was presided over by President Manoj Dutta and moderated by Vice-President Abhijit Khataniar.

In the afternoon, the general meeting was held with President Manoj Dutta in the chair.

The meeting was inaugurated by Dr Rishi Das, President, Tinsukia District Journalists Association (TDJA). He was all praise for the functioning of the Doomdooma Press Club which according to him was well organized in every aspect.

Before the start of the meeting, a condolence resolution was read out and a one-minute silence was observed in memory of the departed souls. Secretary Pradip Kumar Moran then placed the Secretarial report which was passed by the house with some modifications. Treasurer Dinesh Goyal thereafter gave a brief overview of the statement of receipt and expenditures. Several important resolutions concerning local issues were passed in the meeting.

TDJA Vice-President Ratul Kalita and Secretary In-Charge Manoj Baruah attended the meeting as observers on behalf of TDJA while former Presidents Arjun Baruah, Dhiren Deka, Anuj Kalita, and Kakapather Press Club Treasurer Manish Singh graced the occasion with their presence.
