SILCHAR: "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Jal Jeevan Mission project with the intention of providing pure drinking water to every household in the country by 2024. Our goal is to take this mission forward, " Minister for Environment and Forest, Excise & Fisheries, Parimal Suklabaidya made this statement after inaugurating the St.Catherine Drinking Water Supply Project, which was constructed at a cost of Rs.42.75 lakh at Ganganagar Gaon Panchayat under the Palanghat Development Block of Dholai Assembly Constituency in Cachar district on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Suklabaidya said, "With the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Jal Jeevan Mission was launched and our Prime Minister has pledged to provide drinking water to every household in India by 2024. In fact, the BJP government is moving towards success with this thought." "Realizing that water is another name for life, Prime Minister Modi came up with the idea of this project and sought its proper implementation by naming it Jal Jeevan Mission. So, we should all make this dream project successful," Minister Suklabaidya added.

He said that not only drinking water but also the present Central and State governments have brought innumerable people oriented projects. Mentioning that he is always working to accelerate the overall development of Dholai constituency, Minister Suklabaidya called upon all to come forward in the interest of development irrespective of party affiliation. He said that the drinking water project would provide piped water connections to around 300 families.

The Minister reiterated his commitment to provide drinking water to every household in India by 2024 and said that he would continue his efforts to make this dream of the Prime Minister a reality.

Expressing his happiness, Minister Suklabaidya thanked Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma for his guidance, advice and cooperation and thanked all those involved in the Jal Jeevan Mission project. He also outlined various public welfare projects of the BJP-led central and State governments on the occasion. Swapan Kumar Das, Zilla Parishad member of East Dholai, Devdulal Das, SDO, PHE of Silchar Sammandal-II and others also spoke on the occasion, stated a press release.
