BISWANATH CHARIALI: Minister for Environment & Forest, Fisheries and Excise Parimal Suklabaidya reviewed some focus areas in Biswanath on Wednesday. "

At the directive of Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister Suklabaidya reviewed the status of Jal Jeevan Mission Scheme, Har Ghar Jal, Swaach Bharat Mission - Grameen and COVID-19 situation with MLAs, Deputy Commissioner, Biswanath district, Pranab Kumar Sarmah, senior officials of the administration and officials of concerned departments and representatives of political parties.

Under the 'Jal Jeevan Mission', the flagship programme is being implemented in six numbers of blocks covering 790 villages in 2,222 habitations. Under the 'Har Ghar Jal Scheme', 14 numbers of villages have been brought under covering 145 habitations.

Suklabaidya also reviewed the COVID-19 situation in the district. The officials of the district administration and health department apprised the Minister that there are presently 36 active cases with 102 COVID deaths.

In terms of infrastructure, there are 20 both government and private COVID Care Centres, 89 oxygen beds, 180 oxygen concentrators with a total bed strength of 225. The Deputy Commissioner apprised the Minister that the positivity rate in the last 10 days stands at 0.78%, stated a press release. "Suklabaidya also reviewed the vaccination status in the district.

The total number of doses administered, including first and second doses stands at 474884, including 114623 in tea gardens. He directed the officials to ensure cent per cent coverage by stepping up the vaccination drive. "The Minister visited the Chariali Adarsha Primary School and interacted with the headteacher and faculty members on a gamut of issues. He directed the Forest department officials to plant saplings in the school premises.
