GUWAHATI: In a shocking moral policing incident, two men including a secretary of a village defence party, ruthlessly thrashed and beat up three school students at Dalgaon, Darrang.

They also made a video of the moral policing act and uploaded it on social media According to reports, three students went to a nearby river sand bar for a picnic on a boat without taking permission from the owner of the boat.

When they returned to they were badly beaten with lathis by Syampur village defence party secretary Ramnjan Ali and Idris Ali.

They tied them near a river for the whole night. They also tortured and beat up the students the following morning.

In the meantime, the families of the victims filed complaints with the police against them. However, local people allegedly asked the Shyampur police have not taken any step against the accused.

On the other in national news, Mangaluru police arrested two youths for allegedly assaulting a man for speaking with three women.

The arrested persons are Jayaprakash and Pruthvi, who work as daily wage employees in the Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers Union's plant in Kulashekara.

According to the complaint filed by Muhammed P.V., 23, a native of Kannur in Kerala, he was riding his motorcycle with his friend Pranav on October 6 heading towards their room in Lalbagh after having dinner in Kankanady. On the way, he spoke to his woman friend near a sweet stall. Then he stopped his two-wheeler near a motorcycle showroom in Kadri around 10 p.m. where he met two women, who were his classmates.
