More than 3 lakh people affected by flood in Barpeta district

BARPETA: The Bramhaputra, Beki, Nakhanda, Marachawlkhowa, Bhelengi, Pahumara and Kaldiya rivers are flowing above danger level and have flooded most of the villages of the entire district. The flood situation in Barpeta district turned critical due to the release of excess water from the Kurishu Hydro power plant of Bhutan and heavy to very heavy rainfall. A total of 496 villages of different revenue circles in Barpeta district have been affected by flood. In Kalgachiya revenue circle 68 villages, in Barpeta 12, in Chenga 53 villages, in Sarupeta 78, in Sarthebari 84, in Baghbar 105, in Bajali 89, and in Barnagar revenue circle 11 villages have been affected by flood. In the district, total 3,04,841 people have been affected by flood.
