Nagaon Police Reshuffle:148 Police Personnel Transferred Amid SI Junmoni Rabha Death Case Investigation

GUWAHATI: Amidst Junmoni Rabha Death Case Investigation, 148 police officers from the Nagaon Police Force in Assam were transferred. The reshuffle order was issued by the Superintendent of Nagaon Police and is effective immediately.

According to the official notification, “In the interest of public service and as per the decision of district level board for transfer and posting and in the exercise of powers conferred under section 46 of Assam Police Act 2007, the following HC-WUBC of this DEF is transferred and posted as shown against each of their names with immediate effect."

Previously, DGP Assam GP Singh stated that the probe into the death of Sub-Inspector (SI) Junmoni Rabha had been transferred to the Assam Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Junmoni Rabha's family has demanded a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances suspecting the incident as murder. The accident, which occurred on May 15 night in Assam's Nagaon district, has left her loved ones questioning the events leading up to the deadly crash.

It is noted that Junmoni was posted in Nagaon and the deadly accident occurred on May 15, when Junmoni's vehicle collided with an incoming container truck on National Highway 37 near Sarubhagia. The force of the impact entirely crushed the automobile.

Junmoni was transferred to Kaliabor Sub-Divisional Civil Hospital for medical assistance after local police responded quickly. Unfortunately, she was confirmed dead by the doctors upon their arrival.

Meanwhile, 3 state police officials were transferred and deployed in various areas in a small reshuffle in the Assam Government's Home (A) Department on May 10, according to sources. The rearrangement was carried out on the Governor of Assam's directions.

Following are the three police officials who were transferred:

1. Shri Debasish Sarma, APS (DR-2002), Principal, PTC, Dergaon, has been transferred and posted as Commandant, 13th A.P. Bn., Lilabari, Lakhimpur, with effect from the date of taking over command in place of Shri Fakhrul Islam, APS.

2. Shri Satyajit Nath, APS (DR-2002), Superintendent of Police, FRRO, Bongaigaon, has been transferred and will be assigned to Assam Police Headquarters, Ulubari, Guwahati, until further orders.

3. Shri Fakhrul Islam, APS (DR-2004), Commandant, 13th A.P. Bn., Lilabari, Lakhimpur is transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, FRRO, Bongaigaon with effect from the date of taking over charge vice Shri Satyajit Nath, APS transferred.
